We've launched a series of new physical activity and exercise videos to help more people get active and live well with Parkinson's.

Five Aside Walking Football, Stockton on Tees

Fitness Fun and Friendship. If you have Parkinson's or are 60 or over there is a sport for you. Five aside Walking Football is here on Teesside  played at Grangefield Community Centre, 195 Oxbridge Lane, Stockton on Tees, TS18 4HY. Played on Thursday afternoon at 2pm until 3pm.

The game is normally played in the hall but there is an option to play outside in nice weather. This is a no contact sport, played at walking pace for 20 minutes each way. Being 100% fit is not essential and is open to everyone. If you are able to stay on your feet for 30 minutes YOU ARE IN!

Join the Physical Activity Interest Group - North East & North Cumbria

North East & North Cumbria based providers of Parkinson's exercise and individuals with an interest are warmly invited to join in our Physical Activity Interest Group (formerly the 'Increasing access to exercise steering group'). We meet every 2 months on Zoom to share information about the activities on offer and learn from each other's experiences and ideas. Brief notes are circulated after each meeting so you can stay informed even if you can't make the meeting.

Movers & Shakers secure PureGym offer for Parkinson's community

The Movers & Shakers podcast, which features a group of six famous faces who live with Parkinson's, has revealed a new membership offer from UK gym operator PureGym. The new offer entitles a person with Parkinson's as well as a carer to a year's free membership at their local PureGym during off-peak times. 

Off-peak times can vary from gym to gym, so it's important for a person with Parkinson's to find their closest participating gym by visiting PureGym. Registration for the new Parkinson's membership can be made by emailing [email protected]


World Parkinson's Day

Are you ready to Make It Blue on 11th April?

There are many events happening in the Nrth East in the week around World Parkinson's Day. From a sponsored walk, to yoga, seated exercise, a coffee morning and more. Not to mention at least 20 buildings, bridges and monuments will be lit up blue for the day.

Neuro Heroes offer new subsidised online workouts

Neuro Heroes are delivery a new online workout programme for people to get active with Parkinson's online. Supported by our grant funding, the six-week project is free to join and offers a range of activities to help people get active.

Teesside University and Parkinson's UK launch Virtual Reality Pilot 

A new Virtual Reality (VR) pilot between Parkinson's UK, Tees Valley Sport and Teesside University is giving people with Parkinson's an opportunity to get active in the virtual world. 

Supported by our physical activity grant funding, the new project has already proved popular and it's hoped that more people will be able to get involved.
